A compelling and timely essay, Ambassador Chakuta. You remind us that the Constitution depends not only on the words written by the Framers, but on the courage of those entrusted to uphold them. When Congress relinquishes its oversight responsibilities, the balance that protects our republic begins to erode. Thank you for calling attention to a responsibility that belongs not to one party, but to every public servant who has sworn an oath to defend the Constitution.
