Repealing the Inflation Reduction Act will hurt Maine, by Robert Cekuta, in the Bangor Daily News, April 18, 2025.
The Steady State endorses this opinion piece by Steady State member Robert Cekuta carried in the Bangor Daily News.
The negative impacts of repealing the Inflation Reduction Act on Maine are being replayed in states and communities across the nation and threaten our national energy independence, a pillar of our national security.
Abrupt cancellation of this policy– enacted and operational –threatens not only our GDP–and our national development of clean renewable energy among other sectors– but creates economic and technological uncertainty in all our communities. It also leaves the country vulnerable to China and other competitors who continue to actively seek to establish a corner on the market.. Let us not willingly leave the field, abandoning our cities, counties and states in our retreat.
