Trump’s rambling at Davos was beyond embarrassing. I have no words. I look at intelligent and worldly leaders such as Carney, von der Leyen, and Frederiksen and I wonder what they think when they see and hear the likes of Trump. The sacrifice that NATO countries made on our behalf after 9/11 must not be forgotten. NATO is one of humanity’s single greatest achievements in modern times. Without it, the world would be a very dark place.

The Orange Monster is trying to convince us that our NATO allies have not been there for us as an excuse for him to sit back and watch should Putin decide to attack a NATO member nation. It breaks my heart to see him destroying our international relationships.

This is a post for all times. Thank you from the bottom of my tear-stained heart. I'm pretty emotional after reading and re-reading...

My 7 decades of wonder, awe, pride, hope of what my dad fought for.. spent his 20th birthday in the cold, miserable trenches of Battle of the Bulge southern flank under Patton. Was a translator during the Occupation in the Sudetenland... warned our family constantly of the dangers behind the Iron Curtain. And, the hope of the Marshall Plan - we (the US) had learned from WW1.

We visited Europe in 1965, revisiting his footsteps in Belgium, Germany. The stories. Saw the Wirtschaftswunder from a child's perspective- rubble transforming to modern cities... the courage, lots of just-barely-survivors. The ever-present reminders of the struggle to free democracies, each with their own borders and currencies. Americans were welcome everywhere.

The Wall came down... The many joined together and morphed into the EU. They patched things together. The Russians, though, never ceased their authoritarian ways...

Then things wobbled in the US in the mid 2000's with financial crisis, greed, lost homes, conspiracies, media with less Truth, more uncertainty. Russia's invasion of Ukraine wasn't taken as seriously as my father would have warned. Not in 2014, not in 2022. And now... Trump 2. What and how do I share this with my young grandchildren, and maintain my father's legacy: Hope, fervent love for democracy, freedom for families generations from now... and building community with like minded allies, and here on our home turf, most of all. Big sigh. Roll up the sleeves, again.

Thank you for the torch little by incredible Service and this beautiful writing to remind us what and why. 🙏

We need to look ahead to a desired outcome and then work the steps back to here and now.
